Carsten Søgaard is Business Development Manager at Burmeister & Wain Energy in Copenhagen. BWE is the oldest boiler designer in the world and a world leader of Biomass Boilers and Fuel Conversions.
Carsten graduated from the Technical University of Denmark in 1999 as M.Sc. in Mechanical & Energy Engineering after which he started his career doing a Ph.D. with the topic HC Emission Reduction from NG Fired IC Engines by Natural Gas Reforming.
In 2000 he was awarded the European Student Award for Innovative Energy Generation at PowerGen Europe complemented by a speech of honor in Helsinki.
Carsten Søgaard assisted Copenhagen Pectin from 2004 to 2007 reducing energy consumption. He joined Burmeister & Wain Energy in 2009 carrying positions as Project Engineer, Project Manager, Proposal Manager, Sales Manager and Business Development Manager. Carsten Søgaard specializes in business development, biomass conversion of power plants and green field boilers for complex biomass.
He has spoken at several conferences e.g. at GETS 2014 by NTPC in New Dehli with Advanced Boiler Design, at Biomass to Power 2016 in Sevilla with Efficient Energy Production and ICBT 2022 in Krakow with Coal to Bio Conversion, GETS 2023 by NTPC in New Delhi with Mastering Complex Biomass, Biomass To Power 2024 in Helsinki with Straw – Europe’s Untapped Resource and latest European Bioenergy Future 2025 in Brussels, Belgium with Straw – Europe’s Untapped Resource.
